Due to ongoing expansion, my client is currently looking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant / Paralegal to join their law firm in Retford, Nottinghamshire.
With a strong reputation for delivering excellent client care, the firm is experiencing increased demand within its property department and is looking for a motivated individual to provide vital support to the team.
This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in residential conveyancing, although full training will be provided for the right candidate. It offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work directly with clients, and develop a long-term career within conveyancing.
The role
Working closely with fee earners and solicitors in the conveyancing department, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the residential property process. Typical duties will include:
• Opening new files and preparing initial client care documentation.
• Obtaining and downloading title documents and plans from HM Land Registry.
• Drafting contract packs and related documentation.
• Applying for searches and reviewing results.
• Raising and responding to enquiries with other solicitors.
• Attending to clients in person, over the phone, and by email, ensuring excellent client service throughout.
• Preparing financial statements and drafting completion statements.
• Handling exchange and completion processes, including submission of SDLT returns and registration with HM Land Registry.
• Updating lender portals and ensuring compliance with panel requirements.
• Supporting fee earners with general case management and administrative tasks.
About you
The successful candidate will ideally have:
• Previous experience in a conveyancing department (assistant, paralegal, or administrator).
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• A professional and confident manner when dealing with clients and third parties.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
• Good IT skills, including experience using case management systems and Land Registry portals.
• A genuine interest in property law and a desire to develop within the field of conveyancing.
Relevant qualifications (such as CILEX, Law Degree, or LPC) are desirable but not essential. Enthusiasm, reliability, and a strong work ethic will be equally important.
