Job description
This role works on a shift rota, 4 days on and 4 days off, from 5:00am until 5:30pm, with 1 hour lunch (1 x unpaid 30 minutes and 1 x paid 30 minutes break).
Responsibilities
* Working within the Transportation Team, executing a daily/weekly transport plan for company vehicle and third-party Logistics
* Briefing and De-briefing drivers starting and finishing their shift
* Use of ERP Systems
* Collaborate with Transport and Operations Managers to ensure the transport plan can be executed
* Monitor and track company vehicle via tracking software and report any delays
* Communicate with internal teams progress of collections and deliveries
* Use of company software to ensure delivery and collection notes are produced accurately and returned to office, signed after delivery, and booking in and out of site company and third-party logistics
* Ability to work in a fast-paced adaptable environment
* Shunt vehicles and trailers around yard
* Ensure accurate shipping and receiving of products, maintaining compliance with company procedures
* Manage the movement of materials within the production facility, adhering to safety protocols at all times
* Execute heavy lifting tasks as required, ensuring proper techniques are followed to prevent injury
* Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organised work environment
* Availability to sort out problems as they arise
Experience
* Proven experience of Shunting in required
* Good communication skills and ability to work on own initiative
* Proven experience as a Transport Coordinator
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
* Strong knowledge of transportation logistics and supply chain management
* Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes within a warehouse setting
* Excellent materials handling skills, including the ability to lift heavy items safely
* Basic mathematical skills for accurate inventory management and reporting
* A proactive approach to safety and attention to detail in all tasks undertaken
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* HGV Class 1 licence – required
