Job Description Project Delivery Professional (Navy Command HQ Secondment 2 Years)- Submarines Full time Portsmouth. The Navy needs our help; this is an opportunity to join a team of Submariners working for the Fleet Marine Engineering Officer - Submarines (FMEO-SM) who contribute directly to getting safe and capable Submarines to sea. Your home base for this role will be the Navy Command Headquarters building on HMS Excellent, Portsmouth. This is where the Navy Executive Committee (the 1st Sea Lord's team) is based along with all directorates of the Navy, including the Submarine Directorate of which you will be a part. There will be a need for travel to the SDA in Bristol and the Naval Base Clyde and Naval Base Devonport. As a Project Delivery Professional working in this environment, you will bring to bear a valued industrial perspective on critical issues that are hampering SM availability and degrading the lived experience of our Submariners. In a target rich environment, your skills & experience will tailor the specific tasking you undertake and, following an initial period of support, you will be given free rein across the wider Defence if necessary to deliver tangible benefits. An engineering background is preferred, but only an appreciation and understanding is required – what is crucial is an inquisitive mind and a drive to make a difference. What you will be doing You will be assigned improvement projects of a technical nature by the FMEO. Working largely independently but with help when asked, you will need to form a network of stakeholders across the MOD and industry to deliver change. The ability to do this will rely on a technical understanding, project management skills and interpersonal savvy. In an environment where change has previously taken months & years, your ability to combine these skills in on mind will enable you to drive rapid change in comparison. Position Qualifications: Specific to this role, we are looking for an individual with: A technical or manufacturing background, Awareness of project management skillsets, Demonstrated ability to influence at a range of levels, A passion for what we do as RRSL why we do it – but also that for the, especially the Royal Navy, Experience in transformation and operational turnaround preferred.
