They are currently recruiting for a Pre-Construction Manager within their Land Reclamation (civils/utilities/highways) division, based at their Head Office in Manchester.
Their diverse portfolio includes housing refurbishment, new build developments, public realm projects, park restorations, landscaping, highways, civil engineering, and plant services for public and private sector clients.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering the Pre-Construction function within the Land Reclamation business. They will oversee the tendering process, ensuring bids are accurately prepared and aligned with business objectives, and provide hands-on support to the Estimating function when necessary.
This role is suitable for an experienced Pre-Construction Manager, Senior Estimator, or Quantity Surveyor seeking the next step in their career.
The successful candidate will have a strong commercial background, ideally within civil engineering, utilities, highways, or groundworks sectors. They should possess excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, assess risks and opportunities, and develop effective bid strategies.
A collaborative approach is essential, involving close work with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to drive successful outcomes. Key qualities include strong commercial awareness, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Review tender documents and collaborate with the Pre-Construction Director and Operational Leaders to select tenders.
2. Allocate tenders, assign lead Estimators, and ensure accurate preparation in line with pre-construction processes.
3. Oversee and support the estimating process, ensuring quality control and compliance with regulatory and funding requirements.
4. Assess risks and opportunities for each tender and develop strategic bid approaches.
5. Monitor and report tender progress, leading presentations at key meetings, including tender launch, adjudication, and handover.
6. Develop and manage pre-construction and tender programmes, liaising with design teams to drive progress.
7. Foster collaboration across departments for seamless integration with the wider business.
8. Promote continuous improvement and professional development within the pre-construction team.
9. Support quality and social value initiatives in commercial tender offerings.
10. Analyze cost data, market trends, and new business opportunities while maintaining strong client relationships.
11. Lead, support, and mentor pre-construction team members, upholding company values and business objectives.
