Randstad Student Support is seeking experienced one-on-one Study Skills Support Workers to assist university students in Edinburgh who have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs). This is a chance to make a tangible difference in a student's educational journey. The role is a hybrid model, offering flexibility with both in-person and online sessions, and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
As a Specialist Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide personalized learning support, including:
* Developing individual learning plans to promote independence.
* Building on student strengths and effective learning strategies.
* Enhancing organization and time management skills.
* Creating structured action plans to help students stay on track.
* Improving research and comprehension abilities.
* Managing a caseload of students effectively and professionally.
Experience with students on the autism spectrum is a significant advantage.
Essential Criteria
To be considered for this position, you must have:
* Prior teaching or tutoring experience, or
* In-depth knowledge of specific learning difficulties.
Desirable Skills
The ideal candidate will also possess:
* Experience working with individuals who have specific learning difficulties.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
* The ability to identify and build on a student's learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional relationship.
* A high degree of punctuality and reliability.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Membership in a relevant professional body, such as:
o The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
o British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
o The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE)
o Dyslexia Guild (DG)
