Overview
Health & Safety Manager Vickerstock are proud to be working in partnership with a leading engineering and manufacturing company to recruit a Health & Safety Manager for their Northern Ireland operation. Reporting to senior management, the successful candidate will take ownership of all Health & Safety activities across the site, ensuring compliance with legislation, promoting a positive safety culture, and supporting operational excellence throughout the business.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and implementation of the company's Health & Safety strategy.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and industry standards.
* Develop, maintain and continuously improve Health & Safety policies, procedures and management systems.
* Carry out risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
* Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure safe working practices are maintained.
* Monitor and report on Health & Safety performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
* Deliver Health & Safety training and awareness initiatives across the business.
* Support managers and supervisors in promoting a proactive safety culture.
* Manage contractor safety and ensure compliance with site requirements.
* Coordinate emergency preparedness activities and response procedures.
* Liaise with external agencies, auditors and regulatory bodies as required.
* Keep up to date with legislative changes and industry best practice.
Qualifications
* NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent Health & Safety qualification is essential.
* Previous experience in a Health & Safety Manager or Senior Health & Safety position within an engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
* Experience carrying out risk assessments, audits and incident investigations.
* Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
* Experience working with Health & Safety management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Desirable: Experience within heavy engineering, fabrication, aerospace, precision engineering or manufacturing environments.
* Desirable: Knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems.
* Desirable: Experience supporting environmental compliance activities.
