Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we’re addressing security risks and fostering a positive security culture. You will serve as a role model for security, promoting good behaviors and a proactive security mindset. Your work will contribute to safeguarding the organisation from threats to our people, data, information, and physical assets.
In this role, you will:
1. Support the Corporate Security Manager in overseeing and mitigating security risks.
2. Lead on assessing and managing security risks, including our retained responsibilities.
3. Collaborate with risk owners across the organisation to ensure risks are understood and adequately addressed.
4. Provide assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), EA Board, and Executive Directors.
5. Partner with Defra group Security to implement security strategies, policies, and procedures.
6. Lead initiatives to improve our security culture through training, communication, and engagement.
7. Organize governance meetings to oversee security decisions.
8. Maintain networks with security professionals to stay informed of the latest developments.

Team Overview
You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security group, focused on organizational resilience and security. You will have access to the expertise of Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency.
Experience and Skills Required
The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, the following skills and experience are essential:
* Understanding of broader influences on organizational security to facilitate continuous improvement.
* Proven leadership skills to influence, inspire, and achieve outcomes.
* Ability to build effective partnerships within Defra and the Environment Agency to jointly manage risks.
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities, and balancing demands.
* Experience in fostering a security-oriented culture, stakeholder management, communication, and implementing change initiatives is beneficial.

This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your nearest location in England with the option to work from home. Some national travel may be necessary.
