I’m working with a high-growth, investor-backed UK business entering a major expansion phase, with a significant pipeline of acquisitions, developments and funding activity. As a result, they are making a business-critical hire into their in‑house legal team.
This is a hands‑on M&A role for a commercially minded lawyer who wants to own transactions end‑to‑end, work closely with senior leadership, and play a visible role in shaping growth.
The role
Reporting into the General Counsel, you will act as a key legal partner to the commercial and leadership teams, supporting a busy pipeline of:
* Share, business and asset acquisitions
* Property acquisitions and developments
* Acquisition and development finance (including refinancings)
* Post‑completion integration and risk management
This is not an advisory‑only position. You will run live transactions, manage external advisers, and present clearly to senior stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
* Leading transactions from early structuring and heads of terms through to completion
* Managing due diligence and disclosure processes
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating SPAs and related documentation
* Coordinating with law firms, lenders, accountants and JV partners
* Clearly articulating legal risk and commercial impact to the Board
* Supporting post‑completion integration and ongoing corporate matters
* Assisting with company secretarial matters across the group
The profile
This role will suit someone who is:
* A UK‑qualified solicitor / Legal Counsel (c. 4+ PQE)
* Strongly grounded in corporate M&A (private M&A / private equity experience highly relevant)
* Comfortable running multiple live deals with minimal supervision
* Commercial, pragmatic and confident working directly with senior stakeholders
* Interested in a broader remit spanning corporate, property and finance
Experience in real estate or construction is advantageous but not essential.
Why this role stands out
* High deal volume and real transaction ownership
* Direct exposure to Board‑level decision making
* Broad, commercially focused remit
* Stable, long‑term platform with strong backing
* Sensible hours (Monday–Friday, 9–5.30pm)
Location & package
* Ideally commutable to Burnham – only 1 trip per month required.
* Salary £110,000 base (more for the right experience)
* Discretionary bonus up to 10%
This is a rare opportunity for a lawyer who wants to step into the engine room of an acquisitive business, without the constraints of private practice.
