Waverley Court
Salary: £76, - £85,
Hours: 35 per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Quality Improvement Education Officer (QIEO) in the Quality Improvement Team of Children, Education and Justice Services in our capital city. The successful candidate will work across schools, from 3-18, to support continuous improvement in the quality of provision for Edinburgh's children and young people. You will join a large, high performing, and experienced team of officers who work collaboratively to ensure schools receive effective support and challenge.
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative colleague who will build on our strengths, model our behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility and drive further improvement across our schools.
The City of Edinburgh Council is committed to the delivery of a high-quality education service for all children and young people, and to working in partnership with parents and communities. A culture of continuous improvement underpins improvement activity in our schools, supported by the Quality Improvement Service.
The role of the QIEO is to provide guidance and support schools to continually adapt and improve to meet the needs of learners. The core values of our Quality Improvement Education Team are to provide comprehensive and proportionate support, firmly based on a model of collaboration. This support seeks to facilitate effective practice in the following key strategic actions: Planning for Improvement, The Learning Experience, and Monitoring, Tracking and Moderation. This takes several forms, as part of the Self-Improving Schools System, including QIEOs working in partnership with schools to support moderation of their self-evaluation, provide feedback for improvement, and provide valuable professional learning for staff. The Quality Improvement Service also coordinates Supported Self-Evaluation Reviews and supports schools in their preparation for HMIe Inspections.
The QIEO will provide strategic leadership in a 3-18 curricular or quality improvement area within the Schools Team. As a representative of the Service Director of Education and Chief Education Officer when making visits to schools the QIEO will contribute to raising standards and achievement in attainment, inclusion, and equality, in line with local and national priorities. The QIEO will work with the Quality Improvement Managers and Locality Managers to provide professional and management advice to schools and be accountable for the management, co-ordination and development of education in the localities. The QIEO will ensure that the service meets statutory obligations and the required service standards to maximise the potential of children, young people and their families.
