Primary Learning Support Assistant – Speke

We are looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant to work mainly with Key Stage 1 pupils, supporting their learning, communication, and social development. The role involves both academic support and personal care, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who is patient, caring, and resilient.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support pupils with ASD and PMLD in classroom activities and daily routines
2. Assist with personal care and mobility as required
3. Use communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton) to support understanding and expression
4. Create a positive, inclusive learning environment
5. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to meet individual needs
6. Encourage independence, social interaction, and engagement in learning
Person Specification
Essential:
7. Experience working with children, ideally in an SEN setting
8. Patience, empathy, and a caring nature
9. Ability to work well in a team and take direction from teaching staff
10. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
Desirable:
11. Knowledge of strategies for supporting children with ASD and PMLD
12. Training in communication aids, moving and handling, or personal care support
