We are seeking an Architectural Technician to join our team, providing consultancy services to major public sector clients across the North West. The successful applicant will be joining a team who pride themselves on the high-quality service levels they provide on an on-going basis to all our clients. About Us Established for 30 years and working primarily in the public sector, the Practice has a varied portfolio of clients including Local Authorities, Fire & Ambulance Services and Schools. Our core services involve the design and management of construction projects whilst additional services include feasibility studies, condition surveys, dilapidations and party wall surveying. The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for using their creativity and technical knowledge to turn innovative designs into durable and sustainable constructions. The work will include conception and technical design, development and detailing, construction technology, sustainability and creating inclusive environments. The role includes the following duties: • Understanding how the design aspects of a construction project influence and relate to performance and functional issues, so that practical questions can be addressed at the outset. • Contribution to planning applications and other regulatory application procedures. • Identifying the surveys required before work can commence, ensuring they are undertaken and their results are fed into the project. • Carrying out site inspections including accurate measuring. • Preparing and presenting design proposals using CAD and other design software, as well as traditional drawing methods. Skills Educated to degree level in architectural technology or other suitable related degree, you will also need to have the following skills: • An interest and ability in architecture and mathematics. • An eye for detail and design, with the ability to visualise objects in 3D. • Experienced in the use of Autocad. • Good knowledge of construction / detailing. • A logical and practical approach to problem solving. • Self-motivated, ambitious and organized. • Friendly, flexible approach with a willingness to learn and a “can do” attitude. • Planning and organisational skills. • Leadership skills and willingness to take on responsibility. • Good communication skills, to interact with other professionals, authorities and clients. • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team with a desire to help and support others is essential. • The capacity to work under pressure.
