Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Senior Biomedical Scientist team in Cellular Pathology. Located at Lincoln County Hospital the department delivers a centralised Histopathology service for Lincolnshire’s two NHS Trusts and their five main hospital sites, receiving in the region of 65,000 requests per annum. The laboratory provides an UKAS accredited service which includes Paraffin wax Histology, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Morphological staining, Special Staining and Immunocytochemistry. In addition to this the directorate has deployed a whole slide imaging system and first line Molecular diagnostics.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the department and staff to ensure efficient workflow and delivery of a quality service.
* Act as lead for Immunocytochemistry and first line Molecular testing; provide staff training in these areas.
* Support the Laboratory Manager and management team to deliver Directorate Quality Management requirements and maintain UKAS accreditation.
* Support continuous improvement and service development using Lean management principles and contribute to ongoing service improvements.
* Support the delivery of a seven day service as a senior member of the team.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be expected to hold a Masters level qualification or IBMS HSD, although candidates nearing completion of the above or with extensive experience are invited to apply.
