Job Overview:
The role is based within our sister Company Re-Gen Robotics who were Established in 2019 as the world's first no man entry tank cleaning company. Re-Gen Robotics has global oil majors as customers and currently operate across the UK. The company has aspirations to be global with thin next 5 years. One of the key roles to this is designing and building new robotic equipment and attachments and securing relevant approvals such as CE marking and ATEX. The Company currently employ 21 personnel which is part of the greater Regen Group with already established significant engineering design and manufacturing capabilities. The role requires the rite individual to work with the operations and sales departments to design new robots and attachments to create solutions to onsite obstacles. It will also involve the management of the manufacture in our current facilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
To deliver high-quality engineering designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with a focus on sheet metal fabrication and problem-solving. The Design Engineer will work collaboratively within a team to develop practical solutions, manage multiple tasks, and support ongoing improvements across projects.
Main Activities/Tasks
· Complete assigned design tasks as part of a project team, ensuring quality and compliance with engineering standards.
· Collaborate with other engineers (including apprentices and external consultants) on design and development tasks.
· Work collaboratively with manufacturing, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, address field issues, and support ongoing improvements.
· Use SolidWorks to develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
· Source components and liaise with suppliers for custom parts and off-the-shelf solutions.
· Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and relevant industry regulations.
· Identify opportunities for system optimization, cost reduction, and process efficiency.
Essential Criteria
· 2–3 years' experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
· Educated to at least HNC/HND level in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
· Strong working knowledge of Solid Works, including 3D part modelling, sheet metal design, weldments & creating detailed engineering drawings.
· Experience with AutoCAD for 2D design and drafting.
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multitask.
· Effective team player with good communication skills.
· Understanding of manufacturing processes.
Desirable Criteria
· Educated to degree level in Engineering.
· Knowledge of hydraulics & electrics.
· Experience of structural design and analysis.
