Job Description
Alexander Daniels are working with an established business who are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant on a temporary basis. This role supports the smooth running of the finance function, focusing on accurate cashbook management, bank reconciliations, purchase ledger control, and month-end routines. It's ideal for someone organised, detail-driven, and confident handling high-volume transactional work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process daily receipts and payments to the correct ledger accounts.
* Reconcile outstanding items and complete weekly bank reconciliations
* Process and verify supplier invoices daily.
* Maintain purchase ledger registers and support departments with invoice clearance.
* Manage invoice approvals, payment runs, supplier queries, and debit balances.
* Complete monthly supplier statement reconciliations and reconcile the ledger to the nominal.
* Review aged creditors weekly and resolve outstanding issues.
* Monitor the Accounts Payable inbox and ensure all items are actioned daily.
* Maintain an accurate invoice register with minimal open items at month-end.
* Produce monthly KPI statistics.
* Prepare monthly overhead cost files.
* Ensure GL balances reconcile and investigate any variances.
* Support nominal ledger month-end routines and ensure cut-offs are met.
* Maintain accurate digital filing of all purchase ledger documents.
* Review GRNI and GISO accounts, clearing legacy items.
* Provide general support to the wider finance team as required.
Essential Requirements:
* Experience in purchase ledger or transactional finance.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Confident communicator with suppliers and internal teams.
* Able to manage deadlines and high-volume workloads.
* Good IT and Excel skills
