Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Head and Neck Cancer/Voice

Following a flexible retirement, and the need for succession planning within this team, we are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our established and supportive Head and Neck (H&N) Cancer/Voice service within the Acute Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
This Band 7post offers up to nine hours of work per week within a friendly, expert, and well‑connected clinical team.
Due to the need for succession planning we are particularly interested in applicants who demonstrate leadership qualities and wish to further their skills and experience in this area.
Clinically the role would be focused around developing advanced skills in dysphagia within the ENT/H&N cancer specialities and particularly to develop advanced Video fluoroscopy competencies to RCSLT Levels 3 - 4.
You would also be responsible for managing and leading the weekly ENT Outpatient Dysphagia Clinic and develop robust clinical outcome measures for this.
There may be some requirement to assist in the SLT Led Voice Clinic or Voice Therapy Clinic as needed.
You will bring a significant depth and breadth of clinical knowledge, alongside specialist experience of working with people with acquired swallowing disorders. Additional experience in Head and Neck Cancer and voice disorders would be desirable but is not essential as specialist training would be provided.
Our service works within a Realistic Medicine framework, and we are looking for someone who values collaborative working, shared decision‑making, and high‑quality, person‑centred care to support optimal rehabilitation and recovery. You will be encouraged to contribute to ongoing service development and to work closely with colleagues across disciplines.
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is a large teaching hospital, and the wider Speech and Language Therapy service covers a diverse range of acute clinical areas including neurosciences and stroke.
