This is a senior leadership role within the Rail Plant business driving and leading the delivery of the safe, effective, and on track machines and plant operations maintenance. The role is key to ensuring that the Plant business is viewed and valued by customers as a Plant provider of choice and that employees regard Plant as a great place to work.
We are flexible regarding the base location of the successful candidate; however travel across the Southeast and Midlands will be required.
We also welcome applications from individuals seeking part-time hours as part of a job share arrangement.

What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities of the role:
* Lead the team in transforming safety culture to deliver zero harm.
* Establish and develop a cohesive and strong sustainable management team with clearly defined responsibilities, objectives, with development & succession plans.
* Ensure the BU budget is achieved through excellent delivery, carful cost control and seeking out revenue opportunities to ensure the BU remains profitable and achieves expected margins.
* Engage the management team and work with support functions to develop detailed plans to underpin operational planning strategies.
* Develop and implement KPI mechanisms to measure performance for all areas of the BU, monitor and progress against these, taking action to address areas where improvements are required.
* Lead the development of the technical element of the service, to produce a differentiated product that provides benefit to customers and the business and eliminate risk.
* Set up a framework for two-way communications with customers to obtain feedback and ensure a prompt resolution of issues.
* Ensure that opportunities for improvement in work processes and innovative approaches to add value and safety for the customer are identified and implemented, in conjunction with relevant functions and other teams within BB Rail, including investment proposals.
* Produce regular reports on all areas of delivery and performance.
