This role is crucial to ensuring the wellbeing of children involved in the Army Cadets, and requires both compassion and professionalism in equal measure. You will play a vital role in handling safeguarding referrals, supporting investigations, and liaising with statutory agencies to deliver a robust, child-centred response to safeguarding concerns. Key Responsibilities: Promote the welfare of children and prioritise safeguarding in all interactions and decisions. Act as a key contact for safeguarding concerns, disclosures, and referrals, providing guidance to others. Collaborate effectively with external agencies such as Social Services and Police. Review and update the online Safeguarding Casework Management System. Present new referrals in daily triage meetings to agree on next steps with the wider team. Maintain accurate, comprehensive records in line with legal and policy requirements. Assist with submissions to relevant authorities (e.g. Disclosure and Barring Service, PVG Scotland, Access NI). Provide admin support to Case Workers – including meeting coordination, travel bookings, and minute taking. Engage fully in supervision and ongoing professional development opportunities. Comply with all relevant data protection legislation, including GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. What the client is looking for: Essential Experience: Front-line child protection and/or experience assessing risk posed by alleged perpetrators. Background in fast-paced environments such as Children’s Services, NHS, Police, or Youth Offending Teams. Alternatively, strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and practical experience in child-focused roles.
