We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join a school retrofit project for a reputable M&E contractor. The successful candidate will have a strong background supervising mechanical building services works on refurbishment and retrofit projects, ideally within live or occupied environments.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all mechanical installation works on site
Manage subcontractors and direct labour across mechanical packages
Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification
Monitor quality, progress, and compliance with drawings and standards
Conduct toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings
Liaise with project management, engineers, and other trades
Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations and site procedures
Assist with inspections, snagging, testing, and commissioning activities
Requirements
Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on retrofit or refurbishment projects
Experience working on school or education sector projects (preferred)
Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, LTHW/CHW)
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Strong focus on health & safety and quality control
Relevant mechanical qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent)
SSSTS or SMSTS (required)
CSCS card (Supervisor or Gold Card preferred)
