Job Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, organised, and highly motivated individual to support patients, their families, and carers as they navigate the Head & Neck Cancer pathway.
We are looking for2 x 22.5 hours per week job share.
Days will be 1 x Mon, Tue, Wed and 1 x Wed, Thu, Fri.
In this vital role, you will help ensure our service remains truly patient‑centred—providing timely, co‑ordinated care, clear communication, and consistent support throughout every stage of the cancer journey.
As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will:
Act as a central point of contact for patients, families, and carers, offering guidance and reassurance throughout the pathway
Work closely with Consultants, Cancer Nurse Specialists, Managers, and Booking Teams to identify and resolve delays
Closely manage the Patient Tracking List (PTL), escalating issues and helping maximise available clinical capacity
Support the smooth running of the service by providing regular feedback to both clinical and non‑clinical teams
We are seeking someone with excellent organisational abilities, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a caring, sensitive approach. You will play an essential part in making sure every patient receives the best possible experience within the shortest, safest timeframe.
Main duties of the job
Main duties and responsibilities
To carry out all administrative and clerical duties within the department in an
efficient and confidential manner
Track & chase diagnostic investigations and appointments for all patients on the
Head & Neck Cancer pathway within the appropriate timeframes, updating
Cancer360 regularly
Attend any weekly PTL meetings, and update team of any delays to the patient's
pathway
Track urgent requested CT/MRI/ PET & US scans
Book new and follow up appointments for the H&N cancer patients
Prepare the weekly RUH and BRI Head & Neck cancer MDTs. E-mail MDT
outcomes to the patient's GP
Maintain the Spreadsheet for all new Head & Neck cancer referrals
To track post treatment scans & book appropriate f/up OPAs
Track & chase surgical/tertiary hospital investigations
Prepare any Head & Neck cancer MDT business meetings and take minutes of
meeting
To carry out any other admin duties as requested by Line Manager

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
This important role is to help support and navigate patients, their families and
carers through the Head & Neck Cancer pathway ensuring that the Head &
Neck cancer service's prime aim is to be patient-focused at its heart and
proactive in seeing that the patient receives the very best cancer pathway
experience within the shortest time frame with continual communication and
support.
The role requires someone with exceptional organisational skills who can
demonstrate great communication and interpersonal skills. A caring and
sensitive attitude is essential as you will be dealing with patients, their families
and carers.
The post holder will work closely with clinicians (Consultants and Cancer
Nurse Specialists), Managers and Booking Staff in order to identify and
resolve delays in the pathway. They will be responsible for closely managing
the patient tracking list (PTL), escalating operational issues and maximising
available capacity by providing feedback to both clinical and non-clinical staff.
