Sport Welfare Project Officer
Contract: Fixed term until March 2027
Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (flexible working)
Location: Home-based with national travel
Reports to: Strategic Lead - Welfare
Active Partnerships are looking for a Sport Welfare Project Officer to support a national safeguarding and culture change initiative in sport. This is a fixed-term role focused on practical support, insight, and collaboration.
About the role:
This role supports a national programme to improve safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will help connect and coordinate 63 Sport Welfare Officers across the country, ensuring they have the tools, support, and relationships to succeed.
Responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting daily operations, developing inclusive resources, and being a reliable contact to foster long-term cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders such as Sport England, CPSU, and ACT.
* Review evaluations, extract key insights, and inform future activities.
* Create internal reports to support programme decision-making.
* Coordinate activities like meetings and events, managing logistics and follow-up.
* Assist with large-scale events and communications, ensuring inclusivity and practicality.
* Develop and improve tools, templates, and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content is inclusive and reflects diverse needs.
* Maintain good admin and communication to keep tasks on track.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month to regional and national events, with occasional overnight stays.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and communicate sensitively.
* Excellent organization and time management in a remote setting.
* Openness to collaboration and valuing diverse perspectives.
* Clear written communication skills adaptable for different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback to inform decisions.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing principles.
* Proficiency with digital tools such as email, video conferencing, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
* Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Work Environment and Support:
* Home-based with regular online meetings.
* Travel 1-2 times/month for regional or national events.
* Overnight stays 3-4 times/year for national events.
* Flexible working options considered.
* Option for co-working or local office access if needed.
