We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Trading Underwriter to join our UK-wide Delegated Authority/Schemes team.
As a Technical Underwriter in this team, you will be responsible for servicing brokers with delegated authority for specific commercial insurance schemes. This role involves being the main point of contact for referrals outside the broker’s delegated authority.
Working closely with brokers to assess referrals outside their delegated authority and maintaining a continuous learning mentality for personal growth, this role requires a proven commercial underwriter who can communicate clearly and succinctly.
This position is suitable for an experienced Technical Underwriter from a broker or insurer background who is passionate about developing their career and enjoys nurturing relationships for mutual benefit.
A bit about the job:
1. Dealing daily with referrals outside brokers' Delegated Authority and providing clear rationale.
2. Supporting the Schemes Underwriting Lead and delivering initiatives or making recommendations to improve system performance.
3. Having a robust knowledge of scheme governance and regulatory requirements linked to delegation of underwriting authority.
4. Training, developing, and mentoring less experienced colleagues to support their growth.
5. Continuously developing personal skills and capabilities in line with Licence to Grade requirements.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
1. Proven experience in Commercial Motor and/or Commercial Property & Liability underwriting.
2. Ability to handle complex risks and technical referrals, supporting and mentoring junior team members.
3. Ability to confidently lead broker discussions to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
