Summary Fantastic opportunity for an Accounts Apprentice to join our Finance team, supporting the Purchase Ledger Manager and Financial Control Team and supporting the provision of a professional and efficient service being delivered by finance to colleagues across the business. Wage £15,704 a year Check minimum wage rates (opens in new tab) £15,704- £16,000 depending on experience Training course Assistant accountant (level 3) Hours 8.30am-4.30pm Mon-Fri. 40 hours a week Start date Monday 1 September 2025 Duration 1 year 6 months Positions available 1 Work Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. What you'll do at work You will be required to observe, learn and understand processes within our finance department and be able to take these on as your understanding, skills and experience grow. Initially duties will focus on: Entering sales receipts from customers to the accounting system Allocating receipts from customers to the customer accounts and individual invoices Answering queries from the Credit Control team and Sales colleagues about receipts from customers Entering adjustments into the accounting system for items such as customer refunds Reconciling cash customer accounts, ensuring all sales and payments have been matched Processing supplier invoices by matching to purchase orders or other internal approvals, coding to cost centres and allocating to supplier accounts Reconciliation of supplier statements, ensuring all purchase invoices have been received and processed and all payments received and processed by suppliers Querying any anomalies on customer or supplier accounts with colleagues internally Answering the telephone internally and externally. Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes. Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts. Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts. Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations. Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders. Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand. Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications. Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data. Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
