Overview
York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York. The role is full time, permanent, located in York, with a salary range of £39,906 to £48,822.
Responsibilities
* Supervise students in the York St John Law Clinic.
* Teach undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, delivering lectures, seminars, workshops and small group tutorials.
* Develop engaging teaching materials and assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
* Provide pastoral support to allocated students throughout their time with the university.
* Contribute to the development of the research agenda over time.
Required Skills and Experience
* Experience as a solicitor, barrister or legal executive, and teaching experience or an aptitude for teaching gained through training, supervising trainees or apprentices.
* Experience in private client and/or Court of Protection work, with the ability to contribute to modules in Wills & Administration of Estates, Mental Health Law & Practice, Medical Law, Asylum & Immigration or property‑oriented modules.
* Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or willingness to work toward achieving it within 18 months of appointment.
* Open to part‑time work for candidates wishing to maintain a legal practice role.
