A new opportunity has arisen at London Road Surgery for theposition of two pharmacists. This is a new role and sits outside of the ARRS.We are looking for two qualified clinical pharmacists to achieve 1.28 WTE tojoin our busy practice and to work on site alongside our clinicians. We movedto Total Triage in June 2025.
London Road Surgery has 14,400 patients and we have modernwell-equipped premises, built in 2017, offering an excellent workingenvironment with free car parking. We are close to Wickford High Street andWickford Station.
The main responsibilities of the role include
Providingspecialist expertise in the use of medicines and medicine information i.e.side effects, dosage across the practice
Providingpharmaceutical medication reviews, reauthorisations and SMRs
To assistwith person-centred medicines optimisation and quality improvement.
Attendanceat weekly Clinical Meetings
Processinghospital medication discharge letters and specialist treatment letters
Acting asa key contact in the practice, for all medication related queries
Supportingimprovements in clinical care, through practice-based audits and implementingchange
Main duties of the job
Medication Reviews and re authorisations and aligning the practice with the MOLES requirements and supporting the practice GPA with Eclipse.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills
Qualified pharmacist current registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
Confident in use of electronic records and systems databases and spreadsheets
NMP not essential
Diploma in clinical pharmacy or pharmacy practice
Evidence of consistent pattern of learning from education training and experience

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will be an integral part of the generalpractice team as well as part ofa wider pharmacist network and multidisciplinary team. This includes being asource of patient medicines information into and out of hospitals. They willwork to optimise medication issues to improve patient care and safety, andsupport clinical staff in the management of patients.
As part of their employment, the post holder will achievequalifications from an accredited training pathway, including independentprescribing, equipping the Clinical Pharmacist to be able to practice andprescribe safely and effectively in a primary care setting.
The supervision and mentorship network will beprovided to support the Clinical Pharmacist.

Person Specification
Experience
* An appreciation of the nature of general practice and the nature of primary care prescribing, the concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving prescribing
* Experience in managing pharmacy services in primary care
* Minimum of two years working as a pharmacist demonstrated within a practice portfolio
Qualifications
* GPhC registered pharmacist
* To be enrolled in, or has qualified from, an approved 18-month training pathway or equivalent that equips them to be able to practice and prescribe safely and effectively in a primary care setting (for example, the CPPE clinical pharmacist training pathways)
Knowledge and Skills
* In-depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare
* Understanding of the mentorship process
