JOB DESCRIPTION
The Human Factors Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and managing all Human Factors Engineering (HFE) work in the EPC phase of the project, and for working closely with the project team and all relevant parties, thereby ensuring a fit for purpose design that supports human performance on critical tasks, and reduces HSE risks to ALARP.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Knowledge of project workscope and relevance of HFE
* Applying Human Factors / ergonomics standards
* Developing Human Factors Integration Plans (HFIP) for medium and high complexity projects
* Managing HFE activities throughout the project in accordance with the HFIP, including the monitoring of progress against the project plan and milestones
* Delivering Human Factors assessments and documents such as Human Reliability Assessment, HMI design and assessment, Safety Critical Task Screening, Safety Critical Task Analyses, Task Requirement Analysis, Human Factors 3D model review, Valve Criticality Analysis
* Carry-out Human Factors activities such as alarm management/review, vendor package and equipment document reviews, review project reports with Human Factor impacts, input to ALARP Decision Register, input to As Build Safety Case Amendment Notice, input to Safety Concept report, attend PUWER Assessment, construction readiness review, control graphic review workshop, 3D model reviews, HAZID/ENVID, SIMOPS reviews and chemical reviews.
* Producing and reviewing HFE technical deliverables
* Leading Human Factors specialist support to the project, including coordinating and managing Human Factors specialists
* Identifying, tracking and resolution of HFE issues
* Supporting HSE incident investigations and undertaking the appropriate Human Factors Engineering reporting requirements.
* Promoting and communicating lessons learned from within their own project; reporting deficiencies within project and corporate functions and recording all reportable issues within company action tracking and incident reporting systems
* Liaising with and building relationship with client and site, as required
* Managing attendance and participation at project HSE meetings, workshops and forums.
* Promoting workforce involvement in all Human Factors activities, initiatives and programmes
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
* Appropriate degree level qualification in HF/ergonomics/applied psychology or other relevant degree, or equivalent occupational qualification
* NEBOSH Certificate (desirable)
* NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable)
Knowledge, skills and experience:
* Relevant experience in a technical role, or association with Human Factors role in another industry
* Familiarization with industry regulations including compliance with UK relevant Offshore Human Factors requirements.
* Membership of recognized professional HF/ergonomics body
* Good planning and organisational skills
* Effective/competent MS Office Suite User
* Produce high quality written work e.g. technical reports.
* High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format
