Role:
ONE Consulting have been engaged to recruit a Business Development Lead for a global manufacturing organisation based in Exeter.
This role is highly suited to a engineering professional who has transitioned from a technical career path and into either sales applications engineering, sales management, product management, or business development in an advanced engineered manufacturing industry.
The purpose of the role is to lead the company’s product sales strategy for a defined market segment, with customers based both in the UK and internationally. Customers are typically large engineering primes requiring specialised technical products for highly regulated industry purposes, such as Space & Satellites, Aerospace & Defence, or Nuclear Build programmes.
Working with existing and new customers to understand and translate their engineering problems into workable customer requirements and facilitating this process through internal design and development engineering teams to provide robust product solutions that meet the customers’ needs.
In doing so, the Business Development Lead will develop and deepen customer relationships, while more broadly developing, advancing and promoting the company’s products, solutions and capabilities with new customers to support the company’s growth as a market leader.
* Working with new and existing customers to discuss, develop, and deliver tailored engineering product solutions.
* Develop product strategy for market sectors, such as Space & Satellites, Aerospace & Defence or Nuclear Build programmes.
* Work across a 360-degree sales cycle, from initial customer interaction through to sales and business development meetings, proposal, bid and business capture, oversight through engineering and to product delivery of the sale, aligning to future sales opportunities.
* The role will involve UK and international travel to customer sites, as well as being part of the global sales team, presenting at relevant exhibitions and conferences.
Education/Experience:
* Ideal candidates will have a first degree or masters qualification in a relevant Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgy or relevant Advanced Engineering discipline.
* Proven experience of customer facing technical sales to highly regulated manufacturing prime/integrator customers, such as Aerospace, Defence, Space, Satellites or Nuclear Build projects.
* Experience of advanced engineering and manufacturing processes, involving advanced engineered product/systems solutions for delivery to global companies.
* Excellent customer relationship management, commercial acumen and ability to solve problems with spirit and ingenuity.
* Experience of project management/project engineering delivery.
* Work as a senior manager and role model within the business.
* Ability to communicate well at all levels.
