SEMH Teacher - East Acton Full time - 5 days a week

Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm - Mon Fri
This is a co-educational Alternative Provision (AP) that caters for students in the London Borough of Hillingdon who cannot attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons, predominantly permanent exclusion. Due to the nature of the provision and the range of students’ needs, its cohort is transient; students join and leave at different points throughout the school year.
To provide high quality learning and teaching within the School
To lead a KS3 class
To provide positive behaviour management and social development of students
To work in partnership with parents and carers in supporting the education of their children
We are looking for potential candidates that have experience with children or young adults with social, emotional difficulties, mental health needs, behavioural difficulties or ADHD.
The ideal candidate will -
* Have at least 2 years experience Teaching within an Alternative Provision or to students with challenging backgrounds
* Plan and teach inspirational, specialist and highly differentiated lessons as the leader of a full-time nurture group.
* Make accurate and productive use of assessment to promote good progress.
* Have a clear DBS registered to the update service
* Be available Monday-Friday - 5 days a week
* Be empathetic and calm natured
* Be academically strong
Main duties -
* Build and maintain positive relationships with the pupils
* Help build up the pupils confidence and self esteem
* Managing challenging behaviour
* To assist with development and implementation of IEP's/Provision maps as appropriate
* To support pupils consistently with recognising and responding to their individual needs
* To encourage pupils to interact and work co operatively with others and engage all pupil in activities
