Network EngineerBarnsley | Hybrid Working | 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract | £40,000
I'm currently working with a well-established organisation looking to appoint a Network Engineer to join their infrastructure team on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract.
This is a hands-on role supporting a range of network infrastructure and security initiatives across a multi-site environment. You'll work closely with infrastructure, networking and security teams to maintain, improve and secure the organisation's network estate.
The Role
* Support and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations.
* Administer and troubleshoot routing, switching and firewall technologies.
* Assist with network security improvements and firewall policy reviews.
* Support network segmentation and access control initiatives.
* Configure and maintain VPN connectivity and secure remote access solutions.
* Investigate and resolve complex network incidents and performance issues.
* Work closely with infrastructure and security teams on project delivery.
* Produce and maintain network documentation, diagrams and technical procedures.
* Support network monitoring, alerting and operational improvements.
Essential Experience
* Previous experience as a Network Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or Network & Security Engineer.
* Strong Cisco networking experience.
* Good understanding of routing and switching technologies.
* Experience supporting enterprise firewalls and network security controls.
* Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs and WAN technologies.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Experience working within a multi-site or enterprise environment.
Desirable Experience
* Cisco Firepower, FTD or FMC.
* Cisco ISE.
* Palo Alto, Fortinet or Check Point firewalls.
* Network segmentation projects.
* IPS/IDS technologies.
* CCNA or CCNP certification.
* Experience within large enterprise environments.
