Overview
A full‑time Speech and Language Therapist position (part‑time 0.5) within the Community Learning Disability Team and Greenways Assessment and Treatment Unit in Macclesfield. The role supports adults with learning disability and communication/eating difficulties.
Responsibilities
* Provide assessment, treatment and intervention for patients with learning disability and communication and/or eating and drinking difficulties.
* Apply core speech and language therapy skills to the learning disability field, supporting communication difficulties, reducing behaviours of concern and incorporating PBS strategies.
* Deliver assessment and interventions in AAC, Total Communication, higher level language difficulties and dysphagia (training provided as needed).
* Manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and consult with senior clinicians when required.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure high‑quality care.
* Provide information, advice and support to patients and carers, demonstrating empathy and ensuring effective communication.
* Participate in QI projects and research, leveraging links with CANDDID.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified Speech and Language Therapist (SLS or equivalent) with experience or willingness to gain competence in the learning disability field.
* A passion for working with people with learning disability.
* Competence in core speech and language therapy skills and an understanding of AAC, Total Communication and dysphagia.
* Ability to work collaboratively and support team members, with strong time‑management and communication skills.
