The Role

This is an entry-level role designed to provide a strong foundation in credit risk management. The successful candidate will be trained across a broad range of credit risk disciplines including credit assessment, approvals, portfolio monitoring, and regulatory compliance. The role offers exposure to both operational and analytical aspects of credit risk, with a clear development pathway. It covers all areas of real estate finance, providing the graduate with a comprehensive understanding of lending practices, risk evaluation, and portfolio oversight within this sector. Data analysis is a key part of the role, and strong skills in Microsoft Excel are essential for success.


Responsibilities

* Assist in the preparation and review of credit applications, learning to assess quality, policy compliance, and risk mitigants.
* Support the credit approvals process, including preparing documentation for internal committees.
* Contribute to the maintenance of credit risk manuals, procedures, and governance frameworks.
* Participate in Watchlist reviews and Annual Renewal QA processes.
* Help produce reports on portfolio performance and identify emerging risks.
* Support root cause analysis of credit risk events and contribute to procedural improvements.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to ensure consistent credit standards.
* Assist in setting and reviewing credit risk appetite and policy.
* Participate in projects aimed at improving credit risk processes and systems.


Training & Development Provided

* Credit assessment and lending policy fundamentals.
* Approvals process and committee governance.
* Risk frameworks including Basel and IFRS9.
* Regulatory compliance and audit preparation.
* Data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python).
* Communication and stakeholder engagement.
* Professional development through mentoring and structured learning.


Desirable Attributes

* Internship or placement experience in banking or financial services.
* Familiarity with credit risk concepts or financial analysis.
* Exposure to data tools or programming languages is a plus.


Requirements of role

* A degree (2:1 or above) in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
* Interest in commercial lending, real estate, and financial services.
