We are looking for a Lead Short Term Trader to join our Energy Markets team on a Permanent basis. This is an onsite role based in our Westwood office paying from £75,475 to £93,559 along with a market leading benefits package.

Here's what you'll be doing
Short Term Trading is part of the Trading & Origination function of E.ON Energy Markets. We are responsible for creating and protecting value from our portfolio of customers and assets, through our trading and optimisation activities. This could be ensuring we have the right amount of energy at the right time as weather conditions change; taking commodity positions to add value or monetising the demand-side response potential that our customers and assets have.
Purpose of this role:
To play a senior and leading role as part of our Energy Markets team trading our large gas and power positions in short term markets for E.ON's portfolio of customers and assets.
You will be able to generate clearly measurable financial value through your trading activity and actively contribute to the development of trading expertise in the team.
1. Lead the development and execution of commercial strategies in short term markets to deliver £multi-million P&L
2. Trade power and gas contracts in the bilateral brokered market, exchanges and with the Electricity System Operator in Day Ahead and Weekend timeframes
3. Lead an enhanced partnership with the Forward Trading Team to profitably manage the prompt portfolio positions
4. Lead the development of the Senior Short Term Traders to further develop their commercial abilities
5. Form and maintain profitable relationships with the wider European trading teams in Germany and the other regions, both operationally and for the sharing of best practice.
6. Work effectively with the Intraday trading team to manage carry positions and to build up market intelligence
7. Build up the market access for new trading channels plus associated downstream processes.
8. Provide expertise in short term markets to the wider sales businesses
9. Build up the capability to monetise embedded flexibility within the portfolio, whether from E.ON’s or customers’ assets including battery storage and Demand Side Response
10. Deputise for the Head of Short Term Trading as required
What we need from you
Essential:
11. Proven track record of delivering P&L in traded markets
12. Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and commercial acumen
13. Deep understanding of traded commodity markets – their purpose and drivers
14. Ability to formulate, share and implement trading strategies
15. Understanding of structured contracts in the commodity markets, and their optimisation
16. A commitment to innovate and proactively improve both your abilities and that of your team
17. The ability to clearly present and communicate complex information in developing and delivering business cases.
Desirable
18. Familiarity with Battery optimisation
19. Experience of trading interconnectors
