<div><p>Join a forward‑thinking, well‑resourced GP practice in the heart of Warwick with excellent facilities, strong clinical support and real opportunities for professional development.</p><p>Priory Medical Centre is a well established, teaching GP partnership serving a list of approximately 19,000 patients, with a modern purpose‑built main surgery opened in June 2021 and a branch surgery on Woodloes Park.</p><p>We’re recruiting a Practice Nurse to join a friendly, multidisciplinary team that includes 5 GP partners, salaried GPs, ANPs, trainee ACPs, nurses, HCAs and strong admin support – ideal for nurses who value collaboration and mentorship.</p><p>The role offers a varied clinical mix: immunisations, chronic disease reviews – diabetes, COPD, asthma, wound and ulcer care, cytology, travel clinics, minor procedures and contraception services, with opportunities to develop special interests and work to agreed clinical protocols.</p><p>You’ll work in a teaching practice with GP registrars and medical students, benefiting from ongoing learning, strong QOF/IIF performance, and a practice culture that supports innovation and career progression. Our Practice Nurses attend regular training and often progress onto becoming Advanced Clinical Practitioners.</p><p>If you’re a compassionate, proactive nurse seeking variety, professional development and excellent facilities in Warwick, Priory Medical Centre could be the next step in your career.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><p><b>As a Practice Nurse at Priory Medical Centre, you will provide high quality, patient‑centred nursing care as part of our supportive multidisciplinary team.</b></p><p>Your role will include delivering treatment room services such as wound care, dressings, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, venepuncture and NHS Health Checks. You will run nurse‑led clinics, including cervical cytology, childhood and adult immunisations, and long‑term condition reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes and hypertension.</p><p>You will offer health promotion and lifestyle advice, supporting patients to manage their conditions confidently and independently. Accurate record keeping, safe medicines management and adherence to infection prevention standards are essential parts of the role.</p><p>Working within a teaching practice, you will contribute to clinical governance, audits and quality improvement activity, while supporting trainees and learners where appropriate. You will manage your own clinic workload with the backing of an experienced nursing and administrative team, using digital systems to deliver efficient and accessible care.</p><h3>Job responsibilities</h3><p><b>Primary Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs</li><li>Undertake cytology</li><li>Remove sutures</li><li>Undertake travel clinics and offer travel advice to patients</li><li>Complete ECGs as required</li><li>Conduct asthma/peak‑flow readings/spirometry</li><li>Obtain blood samples via venepuncture</li><li>Conduct routine immunisations/childhood immunisation clinics</li><li>Chaperone and assist patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician</li><li>Assist GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings</li><li>Request pathology tests (e.g. urine culture, swabs)</li><li>Show interest in diabetes or coronary heart disease and contraception</li><li>Follow agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate</li><li>Support the Infection Prevention Control (IPC) lead and work to the IPC policy, supporting audits, training, evidence of compliance to the Executive Director</li><li>Support the production of the IPC annual statement with the Executive Director & IPC Lead</li><li>Assess patient needs ensuring appropriate healthcare provision, incorporating evidence‑based practice</li><li>Develop, implement and embed health promotion and wellbeing programmes</li><li>Identify, manage and support patients at risk of developing long‑term conditions, preventing adverse effects on patient health</li><li>Provide routine nursing care in accordance with clinical evidence, NICE and the NSF</li><li>Prescribe medication in accordance with PGDs and own scope of practice</li><li>Delegate clinical responsibilities appropriately, ensuring safe practice and that tasks are within the scope of practice of the individual</li><li>Support the clinical team with safeguarding matters, in accordance with local and national policies</li><li>Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate</li></ul><p><b>Secondary Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Support the nursing department</li><li>Support junior members of the nursing team, providing guidance as necessary</li><li>Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care</li><li>Support and participate in shared learning within the practice</li><li>Continually review clinical practices, responding to national policies and initiatives where appropriate</li><li>Participate in the review of significant and near‑miss events applying a structured approach, i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)</li><li>Maintain and clean equipment used by nurses and GPs</li><li>Maintain GP and nurse rooms, stocking and rotating items as required</li><li>Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms</li><li>Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by the Lead Nurse, Operations Manager & Executive Director</li><li>Order health promotion literature</li><li>Participate in administrative systems in the practice</li><li>Maintain accurate records at all times</li><li>Advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within assigned tasks</li><li>Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required</li><li>Occasionally undertake home visits</li><li>Perform any other delegated duties appropriate to the post</li></ul><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Registered General Nurse</li><li>Post Graduate Diploma (or degree in Primary Care related subject)</li><li>Fundamentals of General Practice Nursing</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Experience working in a Primary Care environment</li><li>Experience working as a Practice Nurse or Community Nurse</li><li>Experience with chronic disease management</li></ul><h3>Clinical Knowledge & Skills</h3><ul><li>Chaperone procedures</li><li>Understand the importance of evidence‑based practice</li><li>Broad knowledge of clinical governance</li><li>Accurate clinical note recording</li><li>Work within own scope of practice and know when to refer to GPs</li><li>Wound care/removal of sutures and
