999 Call Handler (Emergency Medical Dispatcher) - Exeter
Our Call Handlers are the first point of contact with the ambulance service for people experiencing a medical emergency. You listen, interpret and respond to calls, recording accurate information under pressure and offering advice or reassurance to callers. You will enter details onto a computer system to establish the seriousness of the illness or injury and ensure the patient receives the right care at the right time.
When you ring 999, the call goes through to one of our two Control Rooms based in Exeter and Bristol.
Responsibilities
* Be the first point of contact for emergency calls; listen, interpret and manage calls under challenging circumstances.
* Record accurate information and enter patient details into the computer system to establish the seriousness and ensure appropriate care.
* Provide advice or reassurance to callers/patients.
* Attend assessment centre if shortlisted; note that we are recruiting to a holding pool for upcoming course intakes.
