Principal Planning Officer/Team Leader (Development Management) North West Around £60 per hour (Negotiable) 12 month contract My client is looking to source an experienced, qualified Town Planner to provide temporary maternity cover. The role involves managing a Development Management team, overseeing complex planning applications, and ensuring high-quality delivery across the borough. Key experience required: ·RTPI-recognised degree in Town Planning and Corporate membership ·Significant experience in development management, including complex planning applications and public inquiries ·Proven ability to mentor, and lead a team ·Strong knowledge of Planning and Listed Building legislation ·Confident interacting with councillors, developers, and the public ·Able to prioritise work, solve problems, and deliver under pressure Key responsibilities: ·Provide direction on cases and ensure smooth progression through the system ·Review and authorise planning applications and pre-application enquiries ·Act as lead officer at Planning Committee and appeals ·Escalate issues and risks when required ·Mentor and supervise Senior Planning Officers and Planning Officers ·Maintain high service standards and professional delivery The Council is seeking someone confident, experienced, and comfortable operating at a senior level within a fast-paced, politically aware planning environment.
