Overview
Bank - Rehabilitation Assistant role at NHS North East London. We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Rehabilitation Assistant with a Postural Stability Qualification and experience in running strength & balance community-based exercise classes as well as home-based exercise programmes. The Strength and Balance Team is a new service currently in the setup phase across West Essex, Mid Essex, South West Essex and Castle Point & Rochford areas. This is a bank-only position with a focus on prevention, providing patients with strategies and tools to prevent falls.
The post holder will work as a Rehabilitation Assistant Practitioner, supporting the delivery of high-quality strength and balance interventions through routine clinical assessments, instruction, and patient-centred care across the designated localities. You will have a caseload of community patients and support them to receive patient-centred treatments. Please ensure you meet the person specifications and have the relevant qualifications required for the role.
Responsibilities
* Triaging referrals into the Falls Strength and Balance Exercise Service to determine eligibility criteria.
* Conducting initial face-to-face home assessments to determine suitability for an Otago-based home exercise programme or a Postural Stability Group Exercise Programme.
* Leading and delivering structured strength and balance home-based or group exercise sessions in accordance with service guidelines.
* Ensuring full compliance with Trust policies, including health and safety requirements, lone working procedures, infection prevention and control, and completion of all mandatory risk assessments.
* Supporting the ongoing development, evaluation, and improvement of the Falls Strength and Balance Exercise Service.
* Contributing to the development and assessment of competencies for Band 3 unregistered support staff where appropriate.
* Providing clinical supervision, mentorship, or task-based support to Band 3 unregistered staff, if applicable.
* Travelling efficiently across multiple locations using own car to deliver care and fulfil service commitments.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Postural Stability Qualification (or equivalent).
* Experience running strength & balance community-based exercise classes and home-based exercise programmes.
* Active involvement in prevention services for falls and management of patients at risk of falls.
* Ability to work as a Band 4 Rehabilitation Assistant with a caseload of community patients.
