Band 4 Assistant Practitioner – Inpatient Therapy Team, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
Applicants should hold an Assistant Practitioner qualification or a health‑care related foundation degree and have recent experience in an acute or rehabilitation setting.
Key responsibilities include assessing and delivering therapeutic interventions alongside Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy colleagues, managing a caseload across various clinical areas, contributing to projects on length of stay and patient flow, and offering weekend coverage as part of a 7‑day service.
Main duties of the job
* Work with physiotherapy and occupational therapy colleagues to assess and deliver therapeutic interventions.
* Receive formal supervision and annual appraisal and participate in in‑service training.
* Provide peer support to band 4 staff and multidisciplinary teams.
* Lead and support the technical instructor team.
* Participate in the development of project initiatives focused on length of stay, patient flow, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
* Support weekend service delivery as required.
Qualifications
* Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree or equivalent.
* Recent experience in an acute, rehabilitation or community setting as a band 3, 4 or above.
Experience & Skills
* Awareness of the role of physiotherapy within acute and rehabilitation inpatient services.
* Knowledge and practical experience of manual handling.
* Ability to transfer and apply skills from other clinical areas.
* Evidence of multidisciplinary team working and communication.
* Experience devising problem lists and goals.
* Experience implementing and progressing clinical treatment programmes.
* Ability to work autonomously and understand team working.
* Understanding of scope of practice and accountability to team leaders.
