Salary: £26,520 FTE per annum rising to £27,030 per annum after successfully completing six-month probation period Location: Contractually based in our Hwb and covering refuges across Caerphilly. Contract Type: Permanent in line with funding - Workplace based Hours & working Pattern: 35hrs per week Generally, Monday to Friday with occasional evening and weekend work Flexible start and finish times that incorporate the hours of 9.30am to 4.30pm and a minimum of 30 minutes unpaid break during shift All team members must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of the Charity and the people we support Participate in organisational Tier 2 call rota (paid) Accountable to: Assistant Support Service Manager Accountable for: Support Assistants (including Out of Hours Support Assistants) - Relief team members Purpose of the post: To assist the Assistant Support Services Manager in overseeing the delivery of specialist, trauma-informed support to adults and children who have experienced domestic or sexual abuse, harm and violence Specific responsibilities: To assist the Assistant Support Services Manager in overseeing the delivery of specialist, trauma-informed support to adults and children living in refuge, recognising the impact of domestic or sexual abuse, harm or violence, and responding with empathy, respect, and consistency. Contribute to a refuge environment that is compassionate, equitable, and grounded in integrity -where every individual feels safe, heard, and supported. Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with legislation and organisational policies, maintaining a trauma-informed, non-judgemental stance that prioritises dignity and safety Provide line management to Support Assistants and Relief team members in line with Cyfannol’s policies and values, supporting recruitment, induction, supervision, training, and development in an inclusive and engaging way. Carry a small caseload and deliver direct support to individuals in line with the Support Worker role, including (summarised): - Receiving referrals and completing Initial Contact and Risk Assessments collaboratively. - Supporting access to refuge, including transport, welcome, and settling in. - Assisting with initial paperwork, housing benefit claims, and service charge arrangements. - Co-developing and regularly reviewing support goals, needs assessments, risk and safety plans. - Providing ongoing person-centred support, advocacy, and referrals to internal and external services. - Attending multi-agency meetings, fulfilling Cyfannol’s responsibilities. - Supporting licence agreement adherence through reflective conversations and escalation where needed. Lead on move-on and resettlement planning, developing and maintaining strong referral pathways and working relationships with key housing and support providers to enable safe, timely resettlement from refuge. When requested attend MARAC, Safeguarding groups, and other multi-agency, ensuring Cyfannol’s actions are completed and recorded Lead licence-specific meetings with residents in response to escalated concerns, working collaboratively with residents to identify solutions and documenting outcomes appropriately. Oversee the licence and contract management database, ensuring timely extensions and updates. Manage the rota ensuring adequate staffing and cover across the service. Fulfil contractual obligations by contributing to timely reporting and schedules, alongside other regular external reporting such as Welsh Women’s Aid Lead regular house meetings with residents, ensuring they are informed, involved, and able to share feedback about the service plus addressing any inter-resident disputes Oversee operational health and safety within refuge services, ensuring timely housekeeping and maximising occupancy. Monitor record-keeping across the service, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality through regular audits Monitor personal charges and petty cash, liaising with the Finance Department as needed. Lead regular team meetings to support communication, reflection, and service development Contribute to internal development projects as part of an organisational continuous improvement General responsibilities: Actively contribute to the achievement of Cyfannol Women’s Aid’s Mission, Vision, Aims, Goals and Objectives ensuring your work reflects our commitment to trauma informed practice. Demonstrate and positively promote Cyfannol’s core values of compassion, integrity, and equity in all aspects of your role. Proactively promote equality of opportunity, challenging and addressing discriminatory practices wherever they arise. Represent Cyfannol Women’s Aid professionally at external meetings, public events, conferences, and similar forums, safeguarding and enhancing the organisation’s reputation. Participate fully in team meetings, management supervision, clinical supervision and relevant training to support continuous learning and development. Work in accordance with Cyfannol’s policies and procedures, ensuring safe, ethical, legally compliant and consistent practice. Contribute to Cyfannol’s environmental goals by participating in carbon-reducing initiatives, including the organisation’s pledge campaign Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the effective delivery of support services and the wider aims of the organisation It may be necessary, following consultation, to amend the job description in light of experience and changing circumstances. This role requires frequent travel for business purposes.
