We are looking for a talented Analyst to join the Workforce Planning & Information team. The role will report to the Principal Data Analyst in Workforce Information, and work closely alongside the Workforce Planning, Training & Appraisal and ESR Self Service team.
As an Analyst within Workforce Information, you will be part of a crucial function within the organisation: bringing together expertise in workforce data, data transformation and analysis, and data visualisation and reporting. This is an exciting opportunity to use data to create the evidence and analysis that underpins a breadth of high impact initiatives across the trust.
The role will follow a typical 9:00-17:00 pattern, Monday to Friday. This is a hybrid role and you should expect to be onsite each week for up to three days. We have an office together at Gloucestershire Hospital, a short walk from the train station. As you are starting in the role you should anticipate more time on site during your induction.
Interview Date: 24th September 2025, This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with colleagues in Workforce Planning & Information, and more broadly across People & Organisational Development and the wider trust. Alongside the Principal Data Analyst, you will use a range of analytical skills to:
Administer ESR, and ensure that it is aligned with workforce information across our systems
Produce detailed, time-critical reports as part of our weekly, monthly and annual information cycles
Respond to ad-hoc enquires, create bespoke data extracts and provide workforce expertise to colleagues across the organisation
Develop and improve our data integration processes to combine complex workforce datasets
Analyse the trends and themes in workforce data using both qualitative and quantitative techniques, including descriptive statistics, trend analysis and statistical process control
Improve the accuracy, quality, security, governance and documentation of our data processes

Degree level education or equivalent.
In depth knowledge of an information related field either acquired by postgraduate study to diploma level or equivalent experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present highly complex information, taking account of the needs and level of the audience
Advanced level of skill in information analysis. The data may be conflicting and contentious to those receiving it.
Ability to write and present clear reports, short articles and presentations taking into account the audience who will receive it eg project work
Expert technical specialist knowledge of ESR including in depth knowledge of NHS data definitions, terminology and ability to maintain and update the database. This includes a thorough understanding of the current issues facing the NHS and the role of information in this context
Demonstrable relational database experience and skills including extraction and manipulation of data etc
Experience of working in the NHS
