School Business Manager School Business Manager – Secondary School (Sheffield) Sheffield, South Yorkshire Full-time, Temporary 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday Competitive – dependent on experience About the Role We are working on behalf of a respected secondary school in Sheffield, part of a successful multi-academy trust, to recruit an experienced and proactive School Business Manager. This is a temporary opportunity for a School Business Manager with a strong financial, administrative, and operational management skills who can support the school’s leadership team in maintaining efficient and effective business operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the school’s financial, HR, and administrative systems during a busy term. Key Responsibilities * Oversee and manage the school’s financial procedures, ensuring compliance with trust and statutory requirements. * Monitor budgets, produce reports, and support strategic financial planning. * Supervise administrative and site staff, promoting a culture of efficiency and accountability. * Manage procurement, contracts, and supplier relationships to ensure best value. * Support HR processes including recruitment, absence monitoring, and payroll administration. * Oversee premises management, health and safety, and risk assessments. * Liaise with senior leaders and the academy trust to ensure effective business operations. Essential Skills & Experience: * Previous experience as a School Business Manager, Finance Officer, or similar role within an educational setting. * Strong knowledge of school financial systems and budget management. * Excellent organisational and leadership skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office and financial management software. * Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritise effectively. Desirable: * Experience working within an academy trust or local authority school. * Relevant qualifications such as a School Business Management Diploma or finance qualification (CIPFA, AAT, etc.).
