We are delighted to be working with Terracotta Properties to find a Chartered (Senior) Building Surveyor.
The team provides the full suite of professional services including Pre‑Acquisition / Due Diligence Surveys, Party Wall, Dilapidations, Schedules of Condition, Planned Maintenance, Defect Diagnosis, Cost Consultancy and Reinstatement Cost Assessments alongside both Contract Administration and Project Management instructions.
The team works across both residential and commercial property types.
We require a person with good knowledge and experience in providing both professional and project management services on a range of property types within Greater London and into the Home Counties.
Main Duties
* Undertaking Pre‑Acquisition / Due Diligence Surveys across a range of building types
* Acting as Party Wall Surveyor for both Building and Adjoining Owners
* Acting as Dilapidations surveyor for both Landlords and Tenants
* Production of Condition Surveys / Planned Maintenance Strategies
* Undertaking inspections and producing Defect Diagnosis Reports, Schedules of Condition and Reinstatement Cost Assessments (RCA’s) for Insurance Purposes
* Acting as CA / PM on a range of projects including External Decorations / Residential Refurbishment / Commercial Fit Out
* Assisting with the development and progression of junior members of staff towards Chartership
* Tracking instructions and associated fees, identifying areas of profitability and growth
* Ability to prioritise and coordinate tasks efficiently ensuring all deadlines are met
* Maintain a positive attitude towards routine tasks
* Accurate and exceptional attention to detail
* Flexible approach to work
* Understands and appreciates the importance of using discretion
* To prepare ad‑hoc advice in a limited time frame
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:
* Strong communication skills both verbal and written in the form of working on a variety of building survey reports
* Detailed analytical skills, basic numeracy, and good attention to detail
* An ability to carry out research, work independently and present this information clearly
* Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
* Team player who deals effectively with colleagues and clients
* Preferably Full UK Driving Licence
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form professional relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels
* Confident and assertive where required
* Sociable and outgoing
