Offer description

We are seeking a Psychological Therapist (CBT) to provide comprehensive psychological support to children and young people in Berkshire presenting with mental health problems, and their parents/carers.

The post holder will initially work primarily within a team offering evidence-based interventions to young people with anxiety disorders, OCD, BDD and tics, and, over time, will work within a locality ‘Getting Help’ team in Berkshire, offering evidence-based interventions for a range of moderate mental health difficulties, including mood disorders. This could be in any locality across Berkshire.

Working within a dynamic, skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team and supported by senior clinicians, you will deliver high‑quality psychological assessments, formulations and evidence‑based interventions. You will conduct risk assessments, develop and implement risk management plans, and liaise with external agencies where required. The role includes providing safe, effective therapy aligned with service objectives, and engaging in supervision and ongoing professional development. You will contribute to the team’s learning culture through supervision, mentoring and training, while championing diversity, inclusion, and trauma‑informed, culturally sensitive practice to improve outcomes for service users and staff.

* Conduct specialised clinical assessments and develop clear psychological formulations of service users’ presenting difficulties using evidence based cognitive behavioural models.
* In collaboration with service users and multidisciplinary colleagues, develop personalised treatment plans based on service user needs, assessment findings, presenting problems, and evidence of effectiveness to support recovery goals and improve quality of life.
* Deliver evidence based cognitive behavioural therapy using specialist knowledge and techniques, adapting interventions based on evolving needs and formulations.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team clinicians and multi‑agency representatives to ensure the delivery of integrated and psychologically informed care.
* In line with experience and role development plans, provide CBT supervision and mentorship to junior clinicians and trainees, contributing to their professional development and enhancing the interventions they offer.
* Support and engage in research activities as indicated, contributing to the evidence base for practice, and participate in development activities and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of clinical services.
* Actively engage in the improvement and development of mental health services, implementing new treatment approaches and providing expertise to enhance the quality of care.
