An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Senior Pharmacist to join the Liver Pharmacy Team at King's College Hospital as a 9-12 month maternity leave cover.
The Liver Unit at King’s College Hospital is a world-renowned tertiary referral centre for liver transplantation, complex hepatology, viral hepatitis, hepatobiliary surgery, and liver intensive care.
The post holder deputises for the team leader, Liver and Private Patient Services, and acts as the lead for Liver Transplant Services. Responsibilities include providing specialised pharmacy services to in-patient liver wards and theatres, and participating in outpatient clinics. Excellent communication skills are essential to provide expert pharmacy advice to healthcare professionals and patients.
Main duties of the job
* Deputise for the Principal Pharmacist, Hepatology
* Act as a specialist role model and expert in hepatology medical management
* Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services within the hepatology Care Group
* Develop and participate in outpatient clinics to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care
* Act as a pharmacist independent prescriber to optimise patient care
* Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds to promote safe, effective pharmaceutical care
* Promote safe drug use within hepatology specialties
* Support non-medical prescribing initiatives and manage related documentation
* Develop, implement, and audit local guidelines
* Supervise and train pharmacy staff at ward level
* Provide education and training to healthcare professionals
* Manage budgets, drug usage, and expenditure forecasting
* Participate in research and clinical audits
