Our Waltham Forest Street Outreach Team plays a vital role in reaching individuals living street-based lives or experiencing instability and exclusion. We're out there — early mornings, late nights, in all weathers — meeting people where they are and offering consistent, practical support to help them take their next steps. We’re now looking for a resilient, compassionate, and proactive Outreach Worker to join our team and help us continue this important work. As an Outreach Worker within the SOS team, you will play a key role in supporting individuals to move off the streets and toward stable housing. You will engage with a range of individuals in London Borough Of Waltham Forest who have adopted a ‘street-based lifestyle’ including rough sleepers and beggars with a view to engaging them in appropriate services and moving them into more settled lifestyles. Full Time Hours: 37.5 hours per week Full Time Salary Range: £27,861.26 - £32,002.35 (dependent on experience, pro rata for part time hours) Allowance: £2,195.72 Outer London Weighting Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2026. *Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours. What You will Be Doing As an Outreach Worker, you’ll be a visible, trusted presence in the community — supporting people who may be sleeping rough, engaged in street activity, or disconnected from traditional services. You will: Build trust and form meaningful connections with individuals who may be facing complex personal, social, or health-related challenges. Carry out regular outreach shifts across Waltham Forest — including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends — engaging with people in public spaces and offering direct support. Help individuals access the right support for their needs: accommodation, health services, harm reduction, mental health care, benefits advice, and more. Advocate for people’s strengths, rights, and goals, ensuring their voices are heard and respected. Work closely with local partners — from housing and health services to the council and voluntary sector — to ensure a joined-up, person-led approach. Keep clear and timely records to support continuity, accountability, and good practice. Who We’re Looking For This is a role for someone who’s calm under pressure, values human dignity above all else, and is driven by a desire to see real, lasting change. We’d love to hear from you if you: Have experience in outreach work or supporting people who are often excluded or under-represented in mainstream services (e.g. individuals with mental health needs, substance use challenges, or street-based lifestyles). Understand the importance of empathy, patience, and persistence when working with people facing complex or overlapping barriers. Are confident working independently on the ground, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Communicate clearly, listen deeply, and maintain strong professional boundaries.
