We are an expanding GP surgery inHorsham, looking to recruit an experienced Medical Secretary / Administrator tojoin our exceptionally friendly and hard-working practice team. The post holderwill be responsible for a wide range of secretarial and administrative dutiesand will provide support for the clinical and management teams. The role requiresprevious experience in either general practice or secondary care, excellenttime management skills, and a willingness to adapt to changing demands.
The hours on offer are:
* Mondays - 09.30 to 16.30 - 1 hour lunch
* Tuesdays - 09.30 to 16.30 - 1 hour lunch
* Thursdays - 09.30 to 17.00 - 1 hour lunch
* Fridays - 09.30 to 17.00 - 1 hour lunch
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide afull secretarial service, including typing of letters, reports, patientreferrals, using in-house software to prepare Subject Access Requests and similarpatient reports, practice minutes, safeguarding and coroners reports, as wellas assisting the management team with other administrative areas of thepractice. The right person will have fast and accurate typing skills, be anexcellent communicator, be IT literate, and able to speak to patients and theirfamilies with diplomacy and sensitivity. The successful candidate needs to beable to work alone and as part of a team, and ideally be flexible to cover forholidays/sickness if required. Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system ande-referrals would be advantageous.
Starting rate is £12.21 per hour, but is dependent on experience.

Job responsibilities
* Typing letters, reports and associated documentation asrequired
* Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals andcommunity services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently

* Actioning incoming emails
* Processing calling letters as requested
* Scanning of patient related documentation and attachingscanned documents to patients healthcare records
* Inputting data into the patients healthcare records asnecessary
* Processing referrals using the electronic referral system(ERS)
* Clinically coding data on SystmOne
* Answering incoming phone calls, transferring calls ordealing with the callers request appropriately
* Managing all administrative queries as necessary
* Assisting the Management Team with practice admin andpatient management
* Carrying out system searches as requested
* Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at alltimes
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
* GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
