The School of Computer Science and Technology (CST) is growing, and we are searching for an ambitious Engineering Technician with workshop experience to join our dynamic team. As a key player in our Engineering department, you will work closely with our academic team to impart essential practical skills to our students, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in their future careers.

As an Engineering Technician in our School, you will be instrumental in providing our students with invaluable hands-on learning opportunities.
Role Responsibilities:
* Work primarily in our state-of-the-art Automotive and Mechanical Engineering workshops, guiding students and faculty on the safe and effective use of engineering facilities.
* Maintain equipment to high standards to facilitate smooth learning and research activities.
* Engage with students during practical lab sessions, supporting their project work.
* Collaborate with the Technical Services Manager to oversee operations of laboratories across Computing and Electronic, Automotive, and Mechanical Engineering.
* Be flexible to accommodate lab access hours, including weekends and unconventional hours as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Undergraduate degree in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
* Relevant professional certifications and qualifications are advantageous.
* Knowledge of machine tools, metal working, CAD/CAM, manufacturing technologies (CNC milling, 3D printing), wind tunnels, welding, soldering, basic circuits, and IT systems supporting computing courses.
* Awareness of health and safety legislation related to laboratory work.
Additional Information:
Position details: Grade 5, £25,742 - £29,605, full-time, permanent, 37 hours/week.
Location: Luton, UK. EU work permit required.
