Role Purpose

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and caring individual to join our Youth Team as a Senior Youth Worker.

This role is central to the development and delivery of our girls’ well-being group—an empowering programme for girls aged 13–18 focused on mental health, confidence, and life skills.

You’ll also contribute to the planning and delivery of wider youth clubs and outreach work, supporting young people aged 11–18 to connect, grow, and thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead & Empower – Take charge of a transformative wellbeing group for girls aged 13-18, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self. Through engaging discussions, creative activities, and mentorship, you’ll create a safe space where young women can thrive.
* Shape Vibrant Youth Clubs & Outreach – Be a driving force behind innovative and inclusive youth programmes, ensuring young people have access to life-changing opportunities. Whether it’s planning hands-on workshops, leading outreach initiatives, or fostering a sense of belonging, your creativity and leadership will leave a lasting impact.
* Capture & Showcase Our Impact – Play a crucial role in documenting the success stories that stem from Riverview’s work. Through weekly evaluation reports, you’ll help us highlight the positive outcomes of our youth programmes, ensuring continuous growth and improvement.
* Keep the Magic Flowing Behind the Scenes – Support the smooth running of all youth groups by handling essential resourcing tasks, making sure every session is well-equipped and ready to inspire.
* Plan & Innovate for the Future – Stay ahead of the curve by researching fresh ideas that will strengthen our ability to support young people effectively. Whether exploring new engagement strategies or developing creative projects, your input will help shape our long-term vision.

General Duties:

Programme Activity and Development

* Organise an appropriate programme to achieve outcomes as outlined by the project lead and coordinate ongoing activities.
* Organise sessions in collaboration with local organisations to join up services and contribute to strategy which applies to young people.
* Run blended activity projects including health & wellbeing, community/environmental projects.
* Outreach work engaging with young people via the Active Parks Programme to contact isolated and 'at risk' groups.
* Assess the needs of young people and planning/delivering programmes related to education, health, and mental well-being.
* Mentoring, befriending, and supporting young people, including encouraging social inclusion.

Project Development & Evaluation

* Assist in developing, and administering youth and community projects and resources.
* Evaluate and monitor projects associated with the role.
* Manage resources effectively and keep proper records (both administrative and financial) during project delivery
* Supervise staff, including volunteers, undertaking cover when the Lead is absent.
* Attend and participate in staff meetings, planning, and development days.

Partnerships & Networking

* Meet, liaise, and network with the community, local police, educational establishments, and other agencies to address issues and promote opportunities for young people.
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Trust’s Board, Managers, Youth Team, and external professional agencies.

Administration & Reporting

* Undertake administrative tasks, verify information, and respond to queries.
* Assist in creating forms and questionnaires to measure the project, in conjunction with participant young people.
* Familiarise with and comply with the Trust’s Health, Safety, and Welfare policy.
* Ensure child protection policies and procedures are adhered to at all times, reporting any concerns according to the Trust’s Child Protection Policy.

Training & Development

* Undertake service training and relevant training to meet changes in standards or legal requirements.
* Act as an ambassador for the Trust and maintain a positive image of its aims and objectives.

Accountability & Resource Management

* Take responsibility for the proper use of equipment, furnishings, and provisions required in activities, following Health and Safety regulations and EEC Directives.
* Adhere to Riverview’s Equal Opportunities Policy to ensure equal access to all activities.
* Any other duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the post.

Candidates for the post will be assessed on their ability to meet either some or all of the criteria as detailed:-

Required Criteria:

* Proven Experience– At least 2 years working with young people, bringing your expertise in youth engagement and development.
* Specialism - This post involves delivering gender-responsive support to young girls, and as such, experience in working with girls or young women in youth work or related settings is highly desirable.
* Qualified & Knowledgeable – Hold a Youth Work qualification or an equivalent in children’s services.
* Organised & Adaptable – Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and keep things running smoothly.
* Engaging & Relationship-Driven – Confident in connecting with young people, making conversations meaningful, and building lasting relationships.
* Energetic & Inspiring Leader – Able to lead groups, keep up with the enthusiasm of young people, and motivate teams in a fun and engaging way.
* Collaborative & Supportive – A great team player who enjoys working hand-in-hand with youth staff and supporting young people effectively.
* Committed & Reliable – Available to work weekday after-school hours, including late afternoons and early evenings.
* Strong Communication Skills– Effective interpersonal, literacy, and numeracy abilities to support youth programmes and outreach initiatives.
* Digitally Savvy – Competent in digital literacy, ensuring effective communication, planning, and resource management.
