The role In this role, you will act as a trusted legal adviser to the business, delivering clear, practical and commercially focused advice across a broad range of commercial and corporate matters. You’ll support the business in making timely and informed decisions, taking ownership of work within your areas of expertise while receiving guidance and supervision as you grow in others. A key part of your role will be managing legal risk in line with Phoenix Group’s legal risk policy, ensuring that issues are identified early, assessed effectively and communicated clearly. You’ll draft and review a wide range of legal documentation, ensuring it is concise, robust and aligned with business needs. You’ll build strong working relationships across the organisation, collaborating closely with colleagues in the General Counsel function, senior stakeholders and external suppliers. You’ll also engage with external legal counsel, ensuring advice is cost‑effective and adds value. To be successful, you’ll stay up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments, proactively maintaining your technical knowledge and continuing professional development in accordance with SRA or Law Society of Scotland requirements What are we looking for? Qualified, or within six months of qualifying, as an English or Scottish solicitor, typically 0–4 PQE with experience in the financial services industry. Strong drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills across commercial agreements. Ability to identify and escalate legal risks and provide clear, commercially focused advice Excellent relationship‑building skills, with the confidence to collaborate effectively with colleagues across the General Counsel function, senior stakeholders and external suppliers. Ability to manage your workload, meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality outputs We want to hire the whole version of you.
