Gemporia, established in 2004, is a British live television and online jewellery retailer sourcing gemstones worldwide. Since 2017, we are proudly an employee-owned company and are continually expanding our successful team.
We are seeking an assistant to support the Buying and Product Development Team with administrative duties.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and time management skills, attention to detail, and a flexible approach.
While an interest in jewellery making or crafting is beneficial, it is not essential. We offer opportunities for career progression into buying, product development, and merchandising.
Role & Responsibilities:
As a Buyer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Managing the buying process for your categories, including product development, range selection, maintaining the critical path, monitoring inventory, and identifying opportunities to reduce high stock levels of gemstones.
2. Reviewing sales performance to understand key sales, profit, and margin drivers.
3. Negotiating with suppliers to achieve target margins, securing competitive pricing, and sourcing new products in line with category plans.
4. Collaborating with CRTPL and the Merchandising team to ensure accurate order processing and timely delivery.
5. Analyzing competitors and market leaders, reviewing their propositions regularly, and providing feedback and opportunities for product development.
6. Creating and implementing strategic category plans to maximize sales and growth.
7. Building strong relationships with internal teams to meet category objectives.
8. Developing expertise in your product categories and the wider business.
9. Managing product queries and resolving issues promptly.
10. Maintaining accurate data entry and developing a thorough understanding of the in-house system.
Skills & Experience:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Buyer with proven experience in a buying environment. Jewellery experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with suppliers and other departments.
The ideal candidate will be organized, driven, detail-oriented, and have a commercial and creative mindset with a passion for products and understanding of retail buying. Good PC skills are required.
Our studios and offices are based in Redditch, Worcestershire, B98 9HF. You must be able to commute comfortably to this location.
The role is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility during busy periods.
