We would like to welcome applications from suitably qualified applicants to join our 4 year Occupational Therapy Degree L6 Apprenticeship.
This is an exciting opportunity to undertake an occupational therapy degree whilst working with the South Gloucestershire Integrated Network Team.
As an Occupational Therapy Apprentice you will be an employee within Sirona on a fixed term contract for the duration of the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship is a mixture of academic study, clinical placements and implementing those skills whilst working the rest of the time in your team. The academic element of the apprenticeship will be provided by University West of England over 4 years. It consists of 4 clinical placements with tuition and study days at UWE.
The role is based in our Integrated Network Team in the North part of South Gloucestershire. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team comprising of skilled clinicians and support workers across Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nursing and Pharmacy.
The offer is subject to a place being agreed by University West of England.Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship you will gain fully registered Occupational Therapy status to degree level and will be able to join the Royal College Occupational Therapy and register with the HCPC.
You must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle in order to apply for this role.
Main duties of the job
You will assess patients in their own homes following their discharge home from hospital or following receipt of a referral from a Health Care Professional in the community. You will do this independently, with support from experienced clinicians as required, to develop your knowledge skills and to ensure the patient needs are adequately met.
An Occupational Therapist is a natural motivator, investigator and problem solver. Using a person's strengths and motivations to overcome problems they may have encountered with their ability to move and function. You should have an interest in the way the body works and how the psychology of a client affects their ability to regain independence and function.
Due to the nature of the 4 year apprenticeship, we are looking for especially motivated candidates. Time management and prioritisation skills are key, in the practice element but also to handle the academic requirements. The ability to relate to different people in different situations is paramount.
