Assistant Community Education Liaison Officer - Rotherham Salary: up to £32,500 per annum 22.5 hours per week over 3 days (occasional evening and weekends required) The main purpose of this role is to support the CELO Team in the development and delivery of the annual CELO plan and to engage with the communities across Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham on a wide range of waste and recycling topics. Key responsibilities of this role: Work closely with the CELO, BDR Waste Partnership and Councils in the development and delivery of waste prevention, re-use and recycling campaigns. Deliver the CELO Plan including school visits, development of resources for schools, attendance at roadshows and events, development and delivery of internal and external communications campaigns (e.g. social media, print media and in-person events) The Assistant CELOs will have the responsibility for the development and delivery of key, contract-wide campaigns on a variety of topics including Recycle Week, Home Composting, waste reduction and Love Food Hate Waste Engage with the community in the area surrounding the waste treatment facility, assisting with complaint mitigation, administration for the facility’s Corporate Social Responsibility Fund and conducting site tours Essential criteria for the role: Have experience of working in a communications role involving a diverse range of stakeholders (ideally in the waste management industry or in local government) and media communications experience Have experience of delivery of educational programmes Have excellent written and oral communication skills Be able to communicate clearly and have the ability to put complex technical information into plain English; Have proficiency with Microsoft Office packages and social media platforms; Have the ability to work pro-actively, show initiative and drive the profile of the role forward Access to and use of a vehicle Biffa – we’re changing the way people think about waste At Biffa, we love working with waste.
